I''ve enjoyed your site. You mentioned cabin noise at speed. Replacing the underdash panels, putting foam rubber into the panels behind the "B" posts, adding padding under carpets, under spare tire, under seats will help to reduce the resonance that occurs at 2500 rpm.

CAR: No MGB yet

Enjoyed reading about your expereince, I will be in exactly the same situation, too big an ambition and not enough money. I also aim for a GT and have look at a couple including a V8. As yet my wife has said no.

Quick note bare metal and rust we use a natural lanolin based industrial product in Australia made in Brisbane Qld. An example of how effective it is. Picture a 2 year old bare metal car body parked in a beach front garage lightly coated with Lanogard and no rust. The beauty of it is you can do all the body prep your self then transport to a painter with out worries and it easily cleaned off.

Good Luck with the engine and gear box.

I am retiring next year and intend to renovate/modify a BGT as a wintertime project. Am considering a 1950cc engine and 15" wires, if the budget will stretch to this.
Will be searching the sites etc. for ideas and inspiration.
